Stress has led to almost 2,000 days of staff time being taken off by Barking and Dagenham council staff, a Freedom of Information request revealed.

The Barking and Dagenham Post report:

A total of 1,735 days were taken off by council staff because of stress last year, new figures reveal.

The high figure is the equivalent to almost five years of sick days.

It was also a huge increase from the year before, when there were only 1,051 absences due to stress.
