THE number of teachers who were attacked by pupils in state schools in Plymouth fell last year.

Figures released to The Herald under the Freedom of Information Act show that 18 teachers were either physically or verbally attacked in the 2012-13 academic year in schools under local authority control, down from 20 the year before.

The data reveals that 15 such assaults took place in city primary schools, with just three in secondary schools.
