Doctors who are receiving serious complaints against them may not have been reported to the General Medical Council, a Freedom of Information request has revealed.

The Express report:

ALMOST 200 doctors have not been reported to the General Medical Council for serious errors that harmed or killed patients in the past five years, writes Lucy Johnston.

In one hospital 42 doctors received more than two complaints that were not reported, while other NHS trusts did not tell doctors’ new employers about cases of negligence.

After the inquiry into serial killer Dr Harold Shipman, new rules were drafted requiring trusts to report doctor errors to the GMC, but they have still not been ratified.
