A total of 250,000 people made repeat visits to A&E departments in Greater Manchester in one year – including one patient who showed up at their local hospital an astonishing 82 times.

Figures obtained by the M.E.N under Freedom of Information reveal the huge strain being placed on hospital emergency departments by the ‘unprecedented’ number of patients coming through their doors, including some who are turning up dozens of times a year.
