Since the start of the year, Manchester Piccadilly station staff have collected 1,695 items of lost property – averaging 14 items a day.

And among the items that ended up in lost property were 74 iPhones, 31 handbags and 69 purses.

Network Rail, who manage Manchester Piccadilly , supplied the data to the M.E.N. in a freedom of information response.
