A Freedom of Information request shows that personnel are being arrested at the rate of almost one every two weeks.

The figures show that 47 soldiers, sailors or airmen have been referred to prosecutors since the start of 2011 for allegedly downloading child pornography from the internet, with 21 convicted so far.

In the same period 39 have been arrested for child sex offences including rape or sexual assault. Seven have been convicted.
