Almost all of Birmingham’s new average speed cameras are switched off most of the time, the Birmingham Mail can reveal.

The eight sites went live at the start of August – but in the first month only two of them caught almost all of the speeders.

And the Mail can reveal after a battle with West Midlands Police and their Freedom of Information department that four of the eight cameras were not switched on for the whole month.
