A crisis-hit ambulance trust facing £50million in cuts has been exposed by its own staff for spending nearly £500,000 on high-end cars for bosses.

A Freedom of Information request by workers at the East of England Ambulance Service revealed that it bought a fleet of 81 vehicles, including a Jaguar XF and Mercedes C220.

These cost a total of £454,636, in addition to £151,862 spent on leasing 30 company cars for staff between September 2014 and February 2015.
