Cardiff council has been criticised after spending £1.6m on staff mobile phones in three years.

A Freedom of Information Act request revealed the council currently provides 4,396 members of staff with paid-for mobile phones.

It showed that over the last three years the cost of the phones has amounted to £1,688,815 – an average of £562,938 per year.
