Chancellor George Osborne has been urged to provide more money to fund bridge maintenance after a study found over 2,300 of the structures are inadequate.

The investigation by the RAC Foundation revealed 2,375 bridges spanning over 1.5 metres in Britain are not fit to carry the heaviest vehicles, such as lorries of up to 44 tonnes.
