Manchester council is still owed nearly £95,000 by the owner of the Piccadilly big wheel, the M.E.N. can reveal – three months after it was finally taken down.

An M.E.N. Freedom of Information request has found owner Wheels Entertainments is yet to pay for January’s New Year’s Eve fireworks.

It has also failed to cough up for work around the nearby fountain, which the council says the firm agreed to pay for last year.
