THE number of arson attacks on wheelie bins across the city has more than doubled over the last four years, official figures show.

A Freedom of Information request revealed Devon and Cornwall Police recorded 26 instances of a wheelie bin being deliberately set on fire in Plymouth in 2013, up from 20 the previous year and 12 in 2010.

Bob Bunney, force crime prevention lead, says the force has been working hard so far this year to tackle the issue.
