Skint police officers in Northern Ireland have been forced to take second jobs to earn enough money, a Freedom of Information request has revealed.

The Belfast Telegraph report:

Police officers are taking on extra work as children’s entertainers and pilots to make ends meet.

The Belfast Telegraph has discovered that hundreds of PSNI officers are taking on second jobs to supplement their income, including work as fitness instructors and nurses.

The officers have been granted permission to pursue business interests outside their normal police duties. In a small number of cases, officers registered more than one role.
