Figures released under the Freedom of Information Act reveal that the number of children targeted by police with the 50,000-volt stun guns has increased by almost a quarter.

In 2015, 331 children as young as nine had Tasers drawn on them by police, compared with 266 in the previous year.

The number is expected to be even higher because only 35 of the 43 police forces in England and Wales responded in full to the request for information.
