A third of the referrals to the government’s counter-terrorism programme last year came from teachers and other educators, according to government figures.

Of the 3,994 people referred under the Prevent strategy to the Channel programme in 2015, 1,319 reports came from the education sector, according to figures released by the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC).
