Parents in England who have taken their children on holiday during school term time have been fined over £12.5 million since the rules were tightened in 2013, new research has found.

More than 208,000 fines have been issued to parents in England in the past few years, financial website loveMONEY.com found.

School fines for term-time trips have become a fiercely debated topic in the last few years.
