Almost £400,000 was spent by South Lanarkshire Council on lawyers’ fees a Freedom of Information request has revealed. 

The Rutherglen Reformer report:

South Lanarkshire Council last year spent almost £400,000 on outside legal help – even though they employ 30 lawyers.

More than £120,000 from the total was used to pay external lawyers advising the council on their equal pay fight with almost 3000 staff and former employees.

Since 2005, the council have spent almost £450,000 defending the equal pay actions.
