Never mind love thy neighbour – we prefer to moan about them with almost half a million complaints to councils about “ASBO” families.

Noise was the biggest cause of fall outs with “them next door” causing 200,120 fed-up households to write to their local authority to report bad behaviour from loud music late at night to DIY fans drilling and hammering first thing in the morning.

House alarms going off at odd hours with no key holder to turn them off and even doors constantly being slammed saw councils dish out 4,200 warnings to home owners to cut noise levels with 644 notices ignored.
